Rich Witten is the Head Baseball Coach for FIU, bringing a combination of energy, vision, and a track record of success to the Panthers’ program. FIU named Witten as its head coach on June 28, 2022, following an impressive coaching journey that showcased his ability to transform teams and develop elite talent. A native of Danville, Kentucky, Witten played collegiate baseball at Coastal Carolina University, where he excelled as a player and earned his degree in 2012.
 
Witten's coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, player development, and a relentless pursuit of excellence both on and off the field. Prior to taking the helm at FIU, he served in various coaching roles, including his most recent position as an assistant coach at the University of Virginia, where he played a pivotal role in helping the Cavaliers achieve national success. His coaching career also includes time at Winthrop University, where he made significant contributions to the program's development.
 
Since joining FIU, Witten has focused on building a culture of hard work, accountability, and competitiveness. With a commitment to instilling these values in his players, Witten aims to elevate FIU Baseball to become a perennial contender on the national stage. His vision and leadership have already begun to reshape the program, positioning it for sustained success in the seasons to come.
